Clyde Franklin Angelo

Clyde Franklin Angelo was born at home in Moberly, Missouri on June 20, 1944, the son of Reverend Ralph M. Angelo and Mary Hannah (Choate) Angelo. He had three siblings. Martha Lee, the eldest child and only girl, was fourteen years old when Clyde, the baby of the family, was born. From the first day of Clydeís life, Martha Lee was there to cuddle him and love him unconditionally. Ralph Jr., Clydeís second oldest sibling, followed in his fatherís footsteps, becoming a well-known and well-respected minister. David was closest in age to Clyde, and by Marthaís account, the two brothers were partners in crime in a fair amount of neighborhood mischief. Clyde was an ornery child, but in his motherís eyes he could do no wrong. She named him after her favorite brother, Clyde Choate, who had a decorated military career and later became State Senator of Illinois. In the fall of 1953, Cloyed moved with his family to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He practiced baseball for hours using a stick for a bat and a rock for a baseball wanting to play in the major league. He later earned several scholarship offers for his accomplishment on the baseball field. A automobile accident between his Junior and Senior year in high school seemed to bring his baseball career and his dreams of the big leagues to a screeching halt. After high school, in 1962, Clyde married Thelma Hill and had a son, Clyde Franklin, Jr. , Frankie. Clyde enlisted in the military in July of 1965 spending most of his military service in Panama. During his service to his country, Clyde was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Sharpshooter Award, and the National Defense Service Medal. Later, in 1966, he met and married Connie Thornburg who had two sons, Tim and Terry. During this time, Clyde attended Northeaster State College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Clyde adopted Tim and Terry and had a daughter, Shelly Marie Angelo. In 1975, Clyde settled in Blackburn, Oklahoma with Tim, Terry and Shelly and began working for Moffit and Company, which later became James W. Perry, CPA in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He met and married Kathie Southard who had three children, David, Lee and Steven. They moved their family to Cleveland, and in 1980 Sara Kathryn was born. In his career, Clyde worked as Secretary/Treasurer for Cleveland X-Ray Inspection, Secretary/Treasurer for Dean E. Eyler Company, Treasurer for the City of Cleveland, served as senior Auditor/Accountant with George S. Nobles, CPA, and owned and operated his own accounting firm, Clyde F. Angelo and Associates. Clyde enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved bird hunting. Clydeís bird dogs were some of the best around and they were as devoted to him as he was to them. His dream of a baseball career did not end with the car accident. He went on to become a fine softball coach to Saraís little league team. He loved his family and considered them his highest priority. One of his favorite pastimes was having his family over for gatherings that would include cooking BBQ, potato salad and baked beans. His love for his family was evident in his very being and he cherished the time he spent with them. He also had a passion for excellent cigars and was rarely seen without one. Clyde passed away on Sunday May 30, 2010 at the Oklahoma City Veterans Medical Center at the age of sixty-five. He is survived by eight children, Tim Angelo and his wife Donna of Tyler, Texas, Clyde Franklin Angelo, Jr. and his wife Reva of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Terry Angelo of Portland, Oregon, Shelly Angelo-Wilson and her husband Mike of Cushing, Oklahoma, Sara Angelo-Spurlock and her husband Jay Bird of Norman, Oklahoma, David Southard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Lee Southard-Merrifield and her husband Fred of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Steven Southard his wife Rebecca of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister Martha Lee Zumwalt of Tyler, Texas; one brother David Angelo of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren Megan, Emily, Katy, Joseph, Abby Angelo all of Tyler, Texas, Ryan Angelo of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Phillip and Andrew Wilson of Cushing, Annie Spurlock of Norman, Oklahoma, Ryder Southard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Michael and Jessie Merrifield of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Bodhi, Asa, Ari, Anders Southard of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in the by his parents and a brother, Ralph Angelo.
