Cleva Jean Breckenridge, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Grace Living Center in Jenks, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years.
Cleva was born April 25, 1933, in Gypsy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Charles Wesley and Lillie (Craig) Starrett. Cleva later moved to the Cleveland and Boston Pool area as a young child. She attended school in Cleveland until her senior year before transferring to Hallett High School where she graduated with the Class of 1951. Following her graduation, Cleva worked in Cleveland as a waitress later being introduced to Alvie Edward Breckenridge. The two were united in marriage on May 3, 1952, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. They established their home in the Cleveland and Hominy area for many years until the early 1970’s. At that time the two purchased their current home west of Hominy where they have continued to reside.
Cleva enjoyed reading. Some of her favorites were recipe magazines and Readers Digest. Cleva spent lots of time feeding the birds and watching the humming birds buzz the flowers she planted. She was an excellent cook always being hospitable to anyone that would come to visit. Cleva always enjoyed when friends and family would come to visit.
Survivors are Alvie of the home, three children Shirley Covey and her husband Rick of Jenks, Oklahoma, Steve Breckenridge and his wife Brenda of Ralston, Oklahoma, Jeanne Hueston and her husband Bill of Glenpool, Oklahoma; one sister Betty Robbins of Wanette, Oklahoma; one brother Bill Starrett of Hallett, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Cleva was preceded in death by one son Bruce Breckenridge, three sisters Louise Huffines, Charlene McWilliams, Barbara Carlyle, two brothers Wesley and Darrell Starrett.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. David Head officiating. Private burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com
