Claude Francis Terry, Jr. a lifelong resident of Hominy, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in the St. John Medical Center at the age of sixty one. Claude was born December 12, 1947 in Hominy, Oklahoma the son of Claude Ivan Sr. and Betty (Wilhite) Terry. As a young man Claude began his education in Hominy and at the completion if his education Claude joined the United States Navy on July 27, 1965. Claude was deployed aboard the USS Piedmont during the Vietnam War where he served the completion of his duty. He was awarded the following decorations and medals: National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1968. Upon his discharge Claude returned to Hominy, Oklahoma and accepted employment with Eddie King Cadillac in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He later began working in the construction business operating heavy equipment building roads. On May 3, 1980, Claude was united in marriage to Barbara Louise (Tivis) in Hominy, Oklahoma. Claude then began to travel working and building roads throughout the United States. During his time in California he worked for Peter Pfendler as well as Lawrence Welk Enterprises. Claude also leveled a mountain top for the construction of the Cotati Temple; a worship center for the Buddhist faith. In 1988, Claude returned to Hominy and gained employment with Sherwood Construction. He worked on the construction of the Gilcrease Expressway and many other projects in Northeastern Oklahoma. Claude worked for Sherwood Construction for over 12 years at his retirement in 1995. Claude was a major NASCAR fan. He spent many hours watching races on television as well as going to the races. He really enjoyed taking his family and grandchildren to the races with him and showing them things in the pits. He also enjoyed tinkering on his cars and boats and getting his grandsons to help him. Survivors are his wife Barbara of the home, two daughters Christel "Sunshine" Bouchard and her husband Zach of Phoenix, Arizona, Misty Dawn Terry Breeding and her husband Noah of Hominy, Oklahoma, step son Erick Maker and his wife Amy of Sebastopol, California, two brothers Robert Terry of Meeker, Oklahoma, P.D. Terry of Dallas, Texas, one sister Toni Terry of Dallas, Texas, four grandchildren Danny Charles Breeding, Cedric Kordell Breeding, Lilly Rae Bouchard, Brooke Grace Bouchard as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents Claude was preceded in death by his stepson Charlie Maker. Funeral services will 10:00 am Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the home with David Nagle officiating. Burial will follow in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by Post 198 of Pawhuska, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
