Christina Marie Traynor was born August 30, 1974 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of George Edward and Glenda Rae Traynor. Shortly after birth Christina was moved to a children's shelter where she resided until 1982.
In 1982, she was placed in the Enid State School operated by the State of Oklahoma until 1991. She then was placed in foster care until she went to the J. D. McCarty center. On March 26, 1993, Christina went to live with her foster parents, Belinda and Cliff Risley in Tulsa. On November 28, 2001, Lawana Kay Calvert was appointed by the State of Oklahoma as Christina's legal guardian. After residing in Bartlesville for a couple, Christina was then moved to the CSC group homes in Cleveland on April 30, 2004.
Christina continued to received visits from her foster sister, Kandys and her husband. While residing in the Risley home, her foster father, Cliff preceded her in death and a foster sister, Tanesha.
She was a special young lady who was faced with many obstacles in life but always had a smile and a hug for everyone she came in contact with. While residing with her foster parents, Christina enjoyed attending the car races. She especially enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics and placed second in both the 25 meter wheel chair and assisted walking events. Additionally, she placed in the softball throwing event.
She loved music and attending the weekly Adoration services on Wednesdays at the First Christian Church. She especially enjoyed hearing KellySpradlin sing and play the guitar, and would even try to sing along. Her favorite things were hugs, listening to music and being with her friends.
Christina was surrounded by people who loved her and whom she loved. She shared her home with several of her friends, Craig, Corbin, Lisa, Rocky, Jeff, LaJonna, Stacey, Christine, Robin and Wallace. Over the past three years, Christina has developed close relationships with several of the staff members and her co-workers at the Pawnee County Workshop.
Christina passed away on Friday, January 19, 2007 at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of thirty-two years, four months and nineteen days. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 23, 2007 at the First Christian Church. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
