Christeen Elizabeth Giles

Christeen Elizabeth Giles was born in Cleveland, Oklahoma on August 1, 1930. She was the daughter of William Christopher and Eva Mae (Hopkins) Crider. Christeen was raised and attended school in Cleveland, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1948.
Shortly after graduation, Christine was married to Virgil Miller. The couple made their initial home in the Hominy area and then moved frequently during their early marriage together. The couple moved to Oregon in 1955 where they raised their three son’s, Jim, Bob and Paul; and their daughter, Sharon.
In 1968, Christeen attended Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Oregon where she obtained her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Christeen worked in numerous nursing homes and hospitals while residing in the Coquille area. Christine later returned to Oklahoma to become the primary care giver for her mother, Eva Mae. After returning to Oklahoma, she met and was later married to Dennis Ray Giles on August 18, 1983. The couple established their home in Vinita for a short time before moving to Jennings. Dennis preceded her in death on October 1, 2008 due injuries received in an automobile accident south of Pawnee.
Christeen's hobbies included floral arranging, knitting and crocheting. She made many quilts for family and friends that she enjoyed sharing with them. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family including her brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren.
She passed from this life on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, Oklahoma at the age of eighty-six years. In addition to her husbands, Virgil and Dennis, Christeen was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Lloyd, Donald and David Crider; and four sisters Dorothy Gilley, Erma Harvey, Betty Crosson and Ortha Mae Taylor.
She is survived by three sons, Jim Miller of Cordell, Oklahoma, Robert Miller and his wife Shari of Dallas, Oregon, Ralph Paul Miller and wife Denice of Coquille, Oregon; a daughter, Sharon Kay Abell of Coquille, Oregon; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; three brothers James Crider of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Robert Crider of Farmersville, Texas, two sisters Lucille Hensen of Camby, Oregon and Donna McAllister of Pawnee, Oklahoma; numerous other nieces, nephews, and other family member who will mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor David Head officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery.
