Charlotte Rhea Johnson of Jennings, Oklahoma was born on September 17, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a young girl Charlotte grew up in West Tulsa as well as Waldron, Arkansas. Charlotte returned to Tulsa, in 1967 and moved to the Jennings area in the early 1970Ãs. On July 7, 1978, Charlotte was united in marriage to Richard Alan Johnson in Oilton, Oklahoma. The couple established their initial home in Terlton, Oklahoma and later moved to their current home in 1994, where she has continued to reside. After Charlotte received her CLEET certification she began working for the Pawnee County SheriffÃs Office as a dispatcher and transportation officer. She later worked for the City of Cleveland as the Animal Control Officer. During this time Charlotte was a reserve officer and volunteer fire fighter until 2006. At that time Charlotte was diagnosed with cancer and was unable to perform her duties as an officer. Charlotte was not able to be sedentary and was an active part of Image Designs helping with daily tasks and projects. Charlotte was a lady that gave a great deal to other people; not only in monetary ways but with her love and devotion of helping others in need. She was a great encouragement to her friends and family at times when they needed them most. Charlotte loved to sew and was always making something for her grandchildren. Most of all in life Charlotte was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to those around her. Charlotte passed from this life on Friday, September 30, 2011 at home with her family at her side at the age of 65 years and thirteen days. Survivors are her loving husband Alan of the home, four children Gene Harper and his wife Konya of Ketchum, Oklahoma, Les Harper and his wife Daphne of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Robert Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia, Steven Johnson of California, siblings Charles Martin of Tyler, Texas, James Head and wife Carol of Tennessee, Paulette Barnett and her husband Willard of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Guy Norman and his wife Angie of Houston, Texas, Bobby Dale Norman of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren Gary, Courtney, Destiny, Dayton, Kelsie, Jordan, Joshua Dean, six great grandchildren as well as a large and loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her son Harold Dean Harper in 1985. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
