Charles was a machinist by trade, working for Wheatley’s Machine Shop in Tulsa on Charles Page Blvd for years. He was also a truck driver for many years. Traveling the country sometimes taking Zelta Bea with him on occasion.

Charles enjoyed gardening. Charles and Zelta Bea, did this together. It was a chore, but they had beautiful vegetables to can and give to friends, neighbors and family. Charles had cattle and loved to work the land with his tractor. Built a chain length fence which cases his 80 acres. He could cook the best pancakes, his own recipe and loved eating good fresh tomatoes from the garden and fixing a pot of turnips that was just his style. He loved Zelta Bea’s home-made biscuits and gravy which was a favorite.

Charles loved to coon hunt in his younger years. He also loved the ole hound dog and when he was much younger that was his sport. Charles and his buddy Robert Gilbert would hit those woods to see what those hounds could do with their jackets and lanterns. It was an exciting time! There were many stories to be told about those hounds and they enjoyed it immensely. Charles loved to go fishing and catch fish. He would fish on the two ponds on his pond with friends and family. Charles could do anything! He was a man of many talents. If he set his mind to achieve a goal or fix something, he always made it happen! Even his neighbors found this out quickly and called for his help. Charles loved his family, friends, longtime buddies and neighbors.

In his latter years he attempted to look after his long-time buddies. They too were getting older and Charles would call them on the phone and talk to them to see how each were doing or take a trip in his pickup to see them. Charles loved his three grand babies that came along. That are his grandchildren Jacob, Lucas and Caitlyn. He always loved for them to come so he could see them and hold them. Like a good grandparent he was always concerned about them.
