Charles William Bartlett

Charles William Bartlett was born on August 23, 1933 in Waynesville, Missouri.'  Charlie was the son of Solomon Jesse and Jennie May (Cordry) Bartlett.'  As a young child Charlie moved with his parents to the Yale, Oklahoma area where he began his education.'  Following the completion of his education Charlie began working on local farms in the area as well as following the wheat harvest from beginning till end on several occasions.'  When he returned Charlie also drove a oil truck as well as working at a local salvage in the Yale area.'  On September 1, 1962, Charlie was united in marriage to Patricia May Phillips.'  The couple made their initial home in Yale and later opened the Parkview CafÈ in 1975.'  The two operated the restaurant until 1980.'  At that time Charlie and Pat moved to Wenatchee, Washington.'  They operated an apple and cherry orchard for several years before returning home to Oklahoma.'  The couple moved to Cleveland in 1990 and opened the Hickory House Restaurant on January 1, 1991.'  For over 20 years Charlie and Pat has worked daily at the local establishment providing daily specials for people in the local area.'  Not only have they provided food service they have also made available a place for numerous to come and sit to solve many of the worlds problems. '  Charlie enjoyed taking vacations with his family.'  He would always take a yearly trip to Wenatchee, Washington, thru Montana and many other short distant trips with friends.'  He also took a trip to Disney World which he always remarked as ìalready done thatî.'  One of Charlieís greatest achievements in life was the day he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, as well as raising his children along side his wife Pat.'  Charlie loved to read and study the Bible.'  He also spent many hours working crossword puzzles and reading books.'  Three people that have had the greatest impact on Charlie are his loving wife Pat who has always stood by him, Pastor Harrell Jones and Pastor Carl Cunningham.'  Charlie had an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor and his favorite quote is ìWhether I live or die, I live and either way I winî.'  '  Charlie went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his home in Cleveland at the age of 77 years 6 months and 28 days. Survivors are his loving wife Pat of the home, two children Francie Morehead and her husband Tony of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Bill Bartlett and his wife Pam of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one brother Marvin Bartlett of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one sister Gracie Perryman of Brighton, Missouri; two grandchildren Stephanie and Brittany Morehead both of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three step grandchildren, Joshua Guinn of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Jeremy Guinn of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Jessica Guinn of Cleveland, Oklahoma, and one great grandson Riley Davis as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing.'  In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by six brothers John Emir Bartlett, Cecil Everett Bartlett, Donald Bruce Bartlett, Robert Solomon Bartlett, Thomas Gordon "Kenny" Bartlett, Dale Eugene Bartlett; four sisters Elva Lee Bartlett, Ina Gloria Bartlett, Ruth Savannah Bartlett and Virginia Bartlett. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Oakhill Church on Keystone Lake with Rev. Harrel Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
