Charles Wesley Ingalls

Charles Wesley ìCharlieî Ingalls was born December 17, 1966 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Bill Ingalls and Charolit (Starrett) Roe. At an early age he moved to the Blackburn/Skeedee area with his family where he was raised. He attended Ralston School through his freshman year in high school and then transferred to Cleveland where he graduated from Cleveland High School in 1986. It could be said that Charlie was born knowing how to weld. He learned to weld at an early age as his father taught him in his early years and he continued to be self taught through junior high and also received training at Vo-Tech in high school. After graduation from high school, Charlie worked for a couple of years in the oilfields of Northeastern Oklahoma before returning to his passion for welding. For many years he worked as a welder on pipelines throughout the United States through the Pipelines Local Union 798. Later he began using his welding skills as a pipefitter and became active in the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 430. He worked on turnarounds, a planned, periodic shut down (total or partial) of a refinery process unit or plant to perform maintenance, overhaul and repair operations and to inspect, test and replace process materials and equipment. He worked all over the United States including California, Kentucky and locally in Ponca City and the Sunoco Plant in Tulsa. In his early years, Charlie was an avid coon hunter and after being introduced to Team Roping by some friends enjoyed spending time at local rodeos. He was a heeler and roped at many rodeos including the Ben Johnson Rodeo in Pawhuska during the Cavalcade. He was described by his family as a hardworking man who also played hard; he was funny and especially enjoyed to read and play trivia. He was a committed friend to many and was a practical joker who loved to tell stories; often seeming so believable to those that listened that he had to tell them it was only a story. Charlie passed away while working on a job near Elm Grove, Louisiana on February 9, 2011 at the age of forty-four. He is survived by his mother, Charolit Roe of Cleveland, Oklahoma; father, Bill Ingalls of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister, Amy and her husband, Keith Funkhouser of Pawnee, Oklahoma; two brothers and their wives, John Michael and Jennifer Roe of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Ben and Terena Roe of Cleveland, Oklahoma; seven nieces; one nephew; loving companion and special friend of eleven years, Sharon Leonard; uncles, Roy Starrett of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Phillip Starrett of Perry, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the First Assembly of God Church in Cleveland with Pastor Dan Edens officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Starrett, Doug Horton, Richard Sizemore, Ryan Fisher, Jimmy Wilson, Gaylen Vaughn, Leo Youtsey, and Paul Shaver. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Pogue, Roy Starrett, Phillip Starrett and Keith Funkhouser. Interment will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
