Charles Hugh Reece

Charles Hugh Reece was born July 26, 1967 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was the son of Jerry Willard Reece and Beverly (Kilpatrick) Dunkle. Charles was raised and attended school in Cleveland, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1985.

Upon graduating from high school, Charles entered into the service of his country in the United States Army. He served honorably during his enlistment in Korea and at Fort Lewis, Washington. Upon his discharge from active duty, Charles returned to Oklahoma where he attended the University of Oklahoma for two years.

Charles then accepted employment with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, State of Oklahoma, working on the maintenance of the Creek Nation Turnpike. He then worked with his brother, Ryan establishing a new business, Ryan's Store. Charles then began attending classes at Langston University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While attending Langston, Charles was awarded the Florence Nightingale and President's Award for service.

Charles then began his career as a trauma care nurse at the Intensive Care Unit of Saint Francis Hospital. He worked there until May of 2007 when he moved to Aztec, New Mexico. Charles passed away on Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado of injuries received in an ATV accident near Durango, Colorado.

Charles loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Catholic Church, being baptized and confirmed at the Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa. He was known for his loving spirit and generous nature always wanting to help others.

Charles in survived by his father, Jerry W. Reece of Mannford, Oklahoma; mother, Beverly Dunkle of Skiatook, Oklahoma; daughter, Sarah Reece of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Ryan Reece of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Jerry R. Reece of Mannford, Oklahoma; numerous aunts. uncles, cousins and friends who mourn his passing.

A funeral mass will be held at 12:00, Saturday, October 20, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cleveland with Father Bruce Brosnahan officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
