Charles Eugene Lee, age 77 of Ponca City, Oklahoma went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2021.
Charles was born on February 17, 1944, in Jennings, Oklahoma to Chester Martin Lee and Elnore Tompkins Lee. Charles received his early education in Cleveland and in later years received his master’s degree at Northwestern Oklahoma State in education. During his high school years, Charlie excelled in basketball, football, and track. In his later years, Charlies greatest passion became deer hunting and fishing.
Charlie served in Vietnam during 1967-1968. Upon returning to the states, Charlie was employed at various trades before returning to school to become and educator. Charles began teaching in Sand Springs and later taught at Kaw City, Shidler, Varnam, and Thackerville Oklahoma. In 1971 Charlie met Mary Jo Nelson, they married, and they continued his teaching career which spanned 30+ years.
Charlie is survived by his wife Mary Jo Lee of Ponca City; brother Forrest (Doc) Lee of Las Vegas, and Doc’s children and grandson, Tammy, Curtis, and Xavier of California; and brother Chester Lee and spouse Elaine of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Services will be held at Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland, Oklahoma on Monday, June 14th at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Shidler Volunteer Fire Department in Shidler, Oklahoma.
