Charles Edward Dell passed from this life on June 27, 2024, at the age of 83 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Charlie was born on November 5, 1940, in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Horace and Ada (Brisbin) Dell. Charlie grew up and attended school in Cleveland. At completion of his high school education, he began working in the oil field throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. Charlie was married and to this union, William Edward Keeton was born February 1960. On May 6, 1961, Charlie was united in marriage to the love of his life Elma Jo (Jody) Ashton in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and to that union, Bobby and Shari were born. Soon after their marriage the couple moved to Odessa, Texas where he continued his career in the oil field. In March 1962 Bobby was born. During his time in Odessa, Charlie worked for Hydro Test where he became the District Manger and transferred to San Angelo, Texas. In 1965 Charlie and Warren Ashton started A&D Well Servicing. In the late 1960's, Charlie and Jody moved to Magnolia, Arkansas where he worked as a Plant Operator/Pumper for ARCO. In September 1972 Shari was born. In 1973, Charlie and Jody returned to Cleveland where they formed D&D Lease Service. They acquired Pawhuska Dozer during this time. They grew the company to over 58 employees and operated dozers, dump trucks, well service rigs, welders, backhoes and operated his own oil and gas leases. In the 1990's, Charlie drilled and produced an oil well west of Cleveland that is still in production today. He served the Cleveland School Board, Cleveland Hospital Board and Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department. Charlie also worked for Spess Drilling, Baker Performance Chemicals and David L. Greene Oil Producer in Pawhuska, retiring in 2010. Family time was always important to Charlie. He loved having large family/friend get togethers, cook outs, listening to music and spending time at the lake. Some of his grandchildren's fondest memories are spending the weekend riding four wheelers, having papa make them his AMAZING milk shakes before bed and waking up to his homemade biscuits and gravy. Charlie never met a stranger, he always had a stern handshake and was known for the "Big Charlie Dell" wave and hug.  Survivors include his wife of 63 years Jody of the home, three children William Keeton and wife Kim of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Bobby Dell and wife Teresa of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Shari Garcia and husband Randy of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one brother Buster Dell of Cleveland, Oklahoma; aunt Evelois Brisbin Weldon of Cleveland, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren Brandon, Kyla, Konor, Brant, C.J., Bryan, James, Ruel and Brittany; thirteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, July 3, 2024, First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma. with officiating Gary Davis services. Burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
