Charlene Louise Strickland of Midwest City, Oklahoma passed from this life on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the age of 84. She was born February 7, 1936 at Hallett, OK to Lewis Tilden and Alpha Jane (Mills) Johnson. She was raised and received her education in Hallet. Charlene and Edwin Strickland were united in marriage on July 31, 1956 at the Dixon Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Edwin was going with Charlene’s girlfriend, the couples went on a double date and decided they each liked the other date. To this union, three children were born – Teresa, Lloyd and Tina.
Charlene and Edwin enjoyed traveling and had been in all states except Michigan and Alaska. The best trip of their life was in 1983 when they went to Hawaii. She also enjoyed camping, working puzzle books, and taking care of the family. Charlene always had a room for anyone that needed it; loved the outdoors, and bringing the family together, especially at Christmas which was always at her home. She said of their married life that they always had ups and downs, like everybody else, but always loved through it.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are her husband Edwin of 64 years; Children; Teresa Mills, Lloyd Strickland, and Tina Thele, 6 six grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. She is survived by one sister Patricia Patterson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services for Charlene will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the Maramec Cemetery, Maramec, OK under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Cleveland, OK.
