Cathy Lawrence

Services for Mary Catherine Lawrence, will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, September 19, 2014, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. David Head officiating.'  Burial will follow in the Osage Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Cathy was born on May 31, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.'  She was the daughter of Jesse Lee and Carolea (White) Goswick.'  As a young girl Cathy was raised in Prue, Oklahoma where she attended school.'  In the fall of 1964, Cathy was united in marriage to Dwight Calvin Woodrell, Sr..'  The couple established their home in the Cleveland area and to that union there are two children:'  Dwight, Jr. and Kim.'  Cathy later returned to finish her education graduating from Prue High School with the Class of 1966.'  Then later following the birth of her children Cathy furthered her education and obtained her Bachelorís and Masterís Degree in Education from Oklahoma State University.'  Her first teaching job was in Wynona before returning to her alma mater in Prue.'  During her time in Prue, Cathy also drove the bus.'  Cathy was later united in marriage to Larry L. Lawrence in Arkansas on August 15, 1991.'  The couple established their home in Bristow where they resided for over 20 years.'  Cathy also taught elementary education at Coweta for seventeen years before retiring from Tulsa Public Schools at Disney Elementary in May 2009.'  In 2011, Cathy and Larry moved to Jennings, Oklahoma. '  Cathy was a person that loved animals especially her cats and dogs.'  Cathy also spent many hours working in the front yard of her house.'  Christmas time was a very important time of year for her.'  She spent all year purchasing presents for everyone and all night Christmas Eve wrapping them.'  Cathy often referred to her red car as ìSantaís Sleigh.î'  Family vacations were always exciting, because Cathy would always buy gifts at every place she stopped.'  Needless to say Cathy loved to shop.'  She also enjoyed attending the events for her grandkids.'  However showing up on time was always the challenge.'  Cathy was also a barrel racer for many years.'  She competed in many rodeos throughout the country.'  In 2000, Cathy competed in the World Championship in Atlanta, Georgia and qualified an additional six other times. '  Cathy passed away on September 15, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years, three months, and fifteen days. Survivors are her husband Larry of the home; daughter Kim Watts and her husband Carl of Cleveland, Oklahoma; step son Brian Lawrence of Virginia Beach, Virginia; eight grandchildren Dwight Calvin Woodrell, III, Jessica Woodrell, Wyatt Woodrell, Jasper Woodrell, Amanda Stucks, Justin Donnelly, Steven Donnelly, Faith Watts, Bridgett Lawrence, Dillon Lawrence, Hannah Lawrence; two great grandchildren James Levi and Jacob Stucks; daughter in law Karen Gardner of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister in law Kathy Goswick of Cleveland, Oklahoma; niece Sara Goswick; nephew Joshua Goswick and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing.'  She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Carolea Goswick, son Sheriff Dwight Calvin Woodrell, Jr. and a brother Tom Goswick. Pallbearers will include Calvin Woodrell, Justin Donnelly, Steven Donnelly Jasper' Woodrell, Wyatt Woodrell and Dillon Lawrence.
