Carolyn Sue Neal

Carolyn Sue Neal passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years three months and twenty one days. Carolyn was born on January 14, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Teegarden) Neal. Carolyn was raised and received her education in Tulsa, and graduated from Charles Page High School with the Class of 1961. After high school Carolyn was united in marriage and she raised her three daughters Geneva, Ruth and Elizabeth. In 1972, Carolyn worked for Tulsa Public Schools and later accepted employment at Hissom in 1985. Several years later Carolyn began working for the Laura Dester Shelter near 11th and Peoria as a food specialist cook. In 2002, Carolyn was forced into retirement due to health reasons. Carolyn enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading. She especially liked the ìIndian Lady Quilt.î She would often sew for her grandchildren and even made her own clothes. Carolyn loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, camping out at the lake. Her most memorable trip was to Arizona with Geneva and Travis as well as a trip to Illinois with Wanda. Carolyn considered her biggest accomplishment as being a good mother and raising her three daughters by herself. Her father always called her Karen. One day she asked him why he called her Karen and his response was ìbecause you really care about everyone else.î Survivors are her three daughters Geneva Stewart of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ruth Carter of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Elizabeth and Calvin Ferguson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren Christopher and his wife Jessica, Cassandra, Dustin, Amber, Lasey, Little Jessica; five great-grandchildren Andrew, Sydney, Bradley, Eressea, Travis; brother Thomas (Tom) and Phyllis Neal of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sister Wanda Woodrell of Cleveland, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Walter Andrew Neal, mother, Ruth Neal and a brother Robert Neal on December 10, 2001. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Terlton Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Gowdy officiating. Burial will follow in the Terlton Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Darrel Woodrell, Dale Woodrell, Chris Stewart, Bryan York, Larry Woodrell, Justin Donnelly and honorary pallbearer will be Allen Giles.
