Carolyn Sue Brown passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013, with her family at her bedside at the age of 75 years, five months and fifteen days. Carolyn was born on August 3, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Sam OÃConnor and Helen Erna (Domstead) OÃConnor. As a young girl Carolyn was raised in Cushing, Oklahoma where she began her education. She completed her education graduating from Cushing High School with the Class of 1955. During her time in high school Carolyn worked at the local drug store and soda shop. Following high school Carolyn was united in marriage to her soul mate Troy LaVonne Brown on March 24, 1956 in Cushing, Oklahoma. They made their initial home in Cushing, later residing in Pawhuska, Yale and finally moving to Cleveland in the early 1960Ãs, where they raised their three children Kim, Sherri and Chris. Carolyn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Some of her favorite pastimes are playing cards with M.F. and Karen as well as going to a Wayne Newton concert. Carolyn loved to decorate her home in a Victorian Style motif and loved angels especially cherubs. Holiday time was special to Carolyn, once again she loved to decorate for the seasons and this also gave her the opportunity to make the candy and food her family loved. Carolyn and Troy enjoyed going to Colorado as well as Branson frequently. Carolyn has been a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching her family about Jesus. Survivors are her two daughters and their husbands, Kim and J. C. Teasley of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Sherri and Terry Brandt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a son, Chris Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers Ted Roberts of Atkin, South Carolina, Butch O'Connor of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Farren, Cody Brandt, Curtis Brown and Tori Brown, Stacey Post and Melissa Turnbo; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Sam O'Connor, husband Troy LaVonne Brown, mother Helen Roberts and one sister Sandra Jo Spencer. Services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Brad Post officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
