Carol Taylor Sissom was born on August 12, 1947 in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ira Wesley and Ortha (Crider) Taylor. She was raised on a farm south of Cleveland and attended Cleveland school through the 8th grade. Carol moved with her family to Ellinwood, Kansas in 1961 and attended Ellinwood High School, graduating with the class of 1965. While in high school she was a member of the high school choir. Carol was baptized and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Ellinwood for many years. Upon completion of her education, Carol was married and had two children, Michael Ray and Jessica Carol. They resided in Ellinwood until 1985 when they moved to Cleveland for a short time and then to Tulsa. After returning to Oklahoma, Carol received training and certification as a Certified Medical Assistant; working in Tulsa area nursing homes for many years. Carol enjoyed reading, crocheting and most any craft project. She was described by her family as a strong willed woman who was self driven and very beautiful. She moved to Oilton after residing in Tulsa for many years and then recently moved to the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home due to health reasons. Carol passed away on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of sixty-three. She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Wesley Taylor and her two children, Michael Ray Minix and Jessica Carol Minix. She is survived by her mother, Ortha Taylor, of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister, Phyllis and her husband, John Ellison of Allen, Texas; sister, Paula Taylor of Columbia, South Carolina; numerous other relatives and friends that mourn her passing. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 20, 2010 with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
