Obituary Carmen Louise Shannon, 81, of Hominy, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, October 1, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years. Carmen was born in Atlanta, Kansas on October 11, 1928.' She was the daughter of Eugene Lloyd and Louise Helena (Kampschroeder) Womacks.' As a young girl Carmen was raised and received her education in Atlanta where she later graduated high school.' Following her graduation on June 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert J. Harrison in Wichita, Kansas. The couple established their initial home in Atlanta and to this union there are four children; Brad, Gaylene, Caren and Marsha. ' During their marriage the couple resided in several places including Kentucky, Ohio, Kansas and Oklahoma.' In 1972, the couple moved to Hominy, Oklahoma following a transfer from Texaco where Robert was employed.' Following the death of Robert; Carmen continued to reside in Hominy, Oklahoma.' On September 27, 1977, Carmen was united in marriage to James E. Shannon.' The couple continued to reside in Hominy where she has maintained her residence.' During her time in Hominy, Carmen worked at JeanÃs Flowers as well as the Rexall Drug Store where she was a pharmacy technician for many years.' Carmen was a lady that loved and adored her family as well as attending her grandchildrenÃs activities. She loved to go shopping and you could guarantee that she would return with at least one pair of shoes. Holiday times was very special to Carmen always excited to she her children and grandchildren. She would spend numerous hours baking their favorite dish and desserts for them to enjoy. Most importantly in life Carmen was devoted to her Lord and Saviour as well as the First United Methodist Church in Hominy. Survivors are her four children, Brad Harrison and his wife Donna of Henderson, Kentucky, Gaylene Domer and her husband Jerry of Chicago, Illinois, Caren Reamy of Woodward, Oklahoma, Marsha Tucker and her husband, Greg of Skiatook, Oklahoma, one brother Larry Womacks his wife Ruby Ellen of Atlanta, Kansas; one sister Jeanine Thompson her husband Jack of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; step-son, Jim Shannon and his wife, Anna of Mounds, Oklahoma thirteen grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher, Drew, Chad, Robyn, Shannon, Dustin, Scott, Andrea, Geri Lyn, Jamie, Julie, Jeremy; sixteen great grandchildren, Kobe, Kayden, Shalan, Christopher, Brady, Ella, Emily, Zak, Curtis, Taylor, Gabrielle, Tyler, Cale, Max, Corbin, Ford as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing.' In addition to her parents, Carmen was preceded in death by her two husbands Robert J. Harrison on October 30, 1976 and James Ellsworth Shannon, Jr. on January 27, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor Kirk Womacks officiating.' Burial will follow at 3:30 pm in the Atlanta Cemetery in Atlanta, Kansas under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
