Funeral services for Carl Aaron Haws will be held at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel 10:00 am Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Committal services will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Carl was born February 16, 1925, near Coweta, Oklahoma. He was the son of William Milford and Mattie (Gibson) Haws. Carl attended school at the Rosebud School house. As a young man Carl resided with his grandparents for a short time following the death of his mother at a young age. On December 1, 1944, Carl was united in marriage to Bella Jane Whittenburg. The couple made their initial home in the Keystone area. Following the completion of Keystone Lake, Carl and Bella Jane moved to West Tulsa. Carl worked as a independent truck driver for many years traveling locally, nationally and state wide for many years. Carl and Bella Jane also have resided in Sapulpa and in the early 1960Ãs before moving to Sand Springs. Later in the 1970Ãs they moved to Mannford, where they remained until 2008. In 2008, Carl and Bella Jane moved to Wagoner to be closer to their daughter. Carl was a very outgoing person. He loved to travel and during the winter time, he and Bella Jane would travel to South Texas in their motorhome. Carl was also known for taking motors and placing them on bicycles numerous times. He loved to tinker on lawnmowers and cars or any other project that had a engine. Carl enjoyed working in the garden and was especially proud when he was able to share his fruits and vegetables with his friends and family. Carl passed from this life on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the age of 89 years, four months and twenty days. Survivors are his two daughters Thelma Terry and her husband Richard of Duncanville, Texas, Elsie Costigan of Wagoner, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by his wife Bella Jane, son Gene Haws, one brother Paul Haws and a sister Lela Bates.
