Calvin Ray Bridge, longtime Cleveland resident passed from this life on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home.
Calvin was born February 8, 1941, in Roswell, New Mexico. He was the son of Clarence Ray and Wilma (Bishop) Bridge. As a young child Calvin moved with his family to Cleveland. Calvin began kindergarten in Cleveland, Oklahoma. At the completion of his education Calvin began working on the wheat harvest. He worked as a hand for several years. On March 4, 1965, Calvin was united in marriage to Linda Jean Smith in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following their marriage the couple established their home in Cleveland where they raised their four daughters Rita, Irene, Charlotte and Terri. Calvin has worked in several of the local restaurants including Katie’s Café, Judy Ann’s and most recently at the Hickory House as a cook.
Survivors are his daughters Irene Underwood of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Charlotte and David Hager of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Terri Bridge of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one sister Rita Smith and her husband Jack of Hominy, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda Jean Bridge, daughter Rita Monforte; sisters Sandra Lee Bridge Hyatt, Trina Bell, Glenda Matthews, Willa Dean Bridge, Dorabell Bridge and a brother Kenneth Bridge.
Church services will be held 10:00 am Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Steve Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Dixie Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
