David was born on February 10, 1955, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Burt David and Betty Marie (Carter) Moss. He grew up in Tulsa and attended school at McClain High School. Following the completion of his education, David began working as a mechanic. He later moved to Pawhuska, gaining employment in the oil field. On September 14, 1974, David was united in marriage to Doris Ruby Webb at the Hallett First Baptist Church; the couple established their home in Pawhuska. David worked for Short and McPherson Oilwell service for a couple of years before opening an auto repair shop; M and S Truck and Auto Repair, with his longtime friend and coworker John Spicer. In 1988, David and John closed the operation, and he started working for R.D. Hayes. In 2005, David began working in Hominy for Eddie Reed, building engines for oil field equipment. In 2014, he retired due to medical reasons.
Fishing, fishing, and more fishing are what David loved to do. However, his children and grandchildren were also a significant part of his life. He loved every minute he was watching them participate in their activities. Several years ago, David got to ride a train, something he had always wanted to do. The trip was to VanBuren, Arkansas, where he and Ruby spent the evening before returning the next day. David also enjoyed country music, bluegrass, and gospel music, mainly if the Gaithers performed it.
David passed from this life on September 23, 2020, at the age of 65 at his home in Hallett, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife Ruby of the home; mother Betty Moss of Chelsea, Oklahoma, Emily Holloway of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Chuck Moss and his wife SueEllen of Cleveland, Oklahoma; siblings Carolyn Wiley of Chelsea, Oklahoma, Kathy Barrett of Rose, Oklahoma, Mary Reed of Chelsea, Oklahoma, Donna Miller of Rose, Oklahoma, Martha Stacy of Chelsea, Oklahoma, Lonnie Moss of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Robert Moss of Nowata, Oklahoma; six grandchildren Sami, Blaire, Hannah, Alyssa, Mackenna, Marvin and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing.
