Cleveland Clinton Smith known to his friends and family as Bud, 75, of Ralston, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at his home.
Bud was born May 24, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Harry Leroy and Isabell (Jackson) Smith. Bud began his education in Tulsa and then later moved with his family to Osage County where he attended several schools later graduating from Pawhuska High School. Bud had lived in the Hominy area since 1979. He worked in construction with Brown and Root Construction in the mid-1970’s and then later in 1979, accepted a position with Oklahoma Gas and Electric. Bud retired from OGE in 1993, even though Bud retired he remained active daily. He would often help his family with their business Sooner Mud when the need would arise. Bud also worked as a rancher raising cattle after his retirement which kept him pretty busy. Ruby Bernice Smith passed away on December 11, 2012 and had been together since February of 1996.
Bud loved being outdoors. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and his guns. He was an avid book reader especially those written by Louis Lamour. Bud also liked watching Westerns on TV. He would often talk about the times going camping and enjoyed taking his family with him.
Survivors are his children Abby Manley and her husband Brian of Perry, Oklahoma, Amy Blankinship and her husband Max of Belmont North Carolina, Clinton Smith and his wife Trish of Sperry, Oklahoma, Shelly Kennedy of Hominy, Oklahoma, Brian Kennedy and his wife Alicia of Rowlett, Texas, Jerry Kennedy and his wife Marissa of Wylie, Texas, Samuel Kennedy and his wife Kelly of Garland, Texas, Katherine McCoy and her husband Michael of Allen, Texas; three brothers Bill Smith of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Paul Smith of Hominy, Oklahoma, Don Smith of Dover, Arkansas; Four sisters Shirley Graham of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Lilly Heflin of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Joyce Moore of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Eudora LeBass of Catoosa, Oklahoma, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, and one brother Lee Roy Smith.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2018, at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Hominy, Oklahoma. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery with Chapman-Black Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Friends and family may share a memory with the family at the online at www.chapman-black.com.
