"Small Town Kid, Big League Dreams" is a quote that is used to capture the life of Brock Lynn Norton. The vision of a young man with big earthly hopes and dreams was tragically cut short on a wintery road between Tulsa and his home near Cleveland on Saturday, December 21, 2013 in an automobile accident. However, his heavenly dreams where answered and as a result many people received the gift of life through his designation as an organ donor on his driver's license; continuing to give in his passing as he did in life. Brock Norton was the youngest son of Todd and Julie (Pestinger) Norton born on March 3, 1997 at Saint Francis Hospital. Brock was an active youngster, participating in nearly every sport while learning to ride horses and cowboy up at an early age. His dream of playing baseball started at an early age as he went to nearly every practice and game of his brother, Riley who is four years older; beginning at the time Brock could barely walk. He played little league baseball in Cleveland and participated on area all-star teams as his skills became better. As a freshman on the Cleveland Tiger Baseball team, Brock was selected Hitter of the Year in 2013 and Tulsa 7 All Conference Designated Hitter in 2013. Brock was preparing for the 2014 baseball season as a member of the Bishop Kelley Knights Baseball Team. Brock was always involved and active in outdoor activities. He enjoyed all water activities including, wakeboarding, jet skiing, swimming or just floating whether it be in the ocean or the lake. He loved hunting and fishing; especially pheasant hunting with his family and friends and on one occasion caught a rather large spoonbill catfish. He went on countless trips with his family including trips to the World Series and numerous major league baseball fields. Other family trips involved snow skiing and snow boarding, trips to the beach, and attending the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers baseball games, watching his brother Riley. Brock also enjoyed participating in roping and rodeo events and had a strong passion for riding horses; a trait that was instilled in him at an early age by his Pops Riley. He even liked playing the guitar with family and friends. Brock was an extremely kind young man who enjoyed mostly helping others that were less fortunate. He had a caring spirit and was driven by his favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Although a member of the Catholic faith, Brock spent countless hours in local churches involved in youth activities. He attended a mission trip with the First Baptist Church and also participated in youth activities with the Western Height Baptist Church and the First Christian Church. Brock is survived by his father, Todd Norton of Cleveland, Oklahoma; mother, Julie Norton of Cleveland, Oklahoma; brother, Riley Norton of Cleveland, Oklahoma, currently attending Coastal Carolina University; paternal grandparents, Riley and Lola "Granny and Pops" Norton; and maternal step-grandparents, Gary Brewer and Doris Pestinger. A host of other relative and friends who will mourn his passing including the Cleveand Tigers and the Bishop Kelley Knights. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa with Father Brian O'Brien serving as celebrant. A Celebration of Life Service will then follow at 2:00 pm at the Cleveland Event Center with Rev. Greg Hall serving as officiant. Brock was cremated under the supervison of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home and will be interred in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland. Brock will be remembered by many and leaves this final thought, "Please don't touch my hat unless you're picking it up."
