Bonnye N. Caves was born July 17, 1936 in Blackburn, Oklahoma, the daughter of L. L. and Florence (Owens) Glenn. She was raised and attended school in Osage, graduating from Osage High School in 1955. Bonnye was united in marriage on Saturday, May 9, 1959 in a double-ring ceremony to Arnold Young at the First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland. The couple established their initial home in Tulsa. Bonnye then completed her education at Northeastern State College in Tahlequah where she earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Upon receiving Oklahoma Certification and passing her State Board, Bonnye accepted employment at the Cleveland Area Hospital. During the next nearly fifty years, Bonnye continued her career in nursing working in hospitals in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Gainesville, Florida. She continued to provide nursing services as a private home nurse until for health reasons was recently retired. Bonnye continually strived to further her education during her career attending seminars and educational events actually obtaining her certificate as a nursing home administrator a few years ago. Her love of family and friends was evident in her outgoing and energetic personality. She was described by her family as humorous, fun-loving, and adventurous; indicating that a just a trip to the store could be an adventure. She could entertain her nieces and great-nieces all day just by making sandwiches. Bonnye loved to travel but just a simple drive through the rural Oklahoma countryside was a welcomed outing. She loved to read and a weekly trip to the library was an always planned event. Additionally, she enjoyed the outdoors, watching birds and tending to flowers. Bonnye passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of seventy-two. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Everett Ballard, Thomas Glenn and Euel Glenn. She is survived by two brothers Hoyt Glenn of Osage, Oklahoma and Eugene Glenn of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; son, Phillip Young of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandson, Phillip Young, Jr.; nephews, Michael Glenn of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Roy Lee Glenn and Gary Ray Glenn, both of California, Larry and Frank Ballard of Sedan, Kansas; neices, Kathy Eichenberger of Denver, Colorado, Pam Patterson of Cleveland, Oklahoma, and Myrna Barnes of Cleveland, Oklahoma. Father Bruce Brosnahan will lead a Rosary with memorial servcie at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 7:00 pm Interment of the cremated remains of Bonnye will follow at a later date at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
