Bonnie Maude Brown

Bonnie Maude Zickefoose was born January 23, 1912 at Sinnett, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Charles Marion and Ada May (Baker) Zickefoose. Charles and Ada moved to the area from western Kansas in 1894 and established their home in the Appalachia Bay area. Charles was a pioneer school teacher in the territory. He taught in the basin area and was the first teacher in the Dry Lake district at Appalachia. Bonnie moved to Oak View, Colorado with her mother as a young girl where they ran a boarding house where she met and married Robert George in 1930. The couple later moved to Williams, Oregon where they resided for several years before moving on to Grants Pass, Oregon; where Bonnie's mother was also residing. Bonnie later assisted in the care of her elderly mother for several years until her mother's passing in 1974. Bonnie's husband Bob died the same month as her mother, just twenty-three days apart. She later married Claire Brown in 1976 and after his death in 1997, Bonnie moved to Coweta, Oklahoma to reside with her only living sister, Tabitha (Tudie). She then moved to Cleveland where she resided at the Baptist Village until for health reasons was required to move to the Cimarron Pointe Care Center in Mannford in 2006. Bonnie passed from this life and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the age of one hundred years, eleven months and seven days. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; five sisters, Lillis Stephens, Leona Zickefoose, Letha Stephens, Tabitha Cassiday and Sylvia Fox; three brothers, Marion, Murrel and George Zickefoose; and a half brother, Vernie Barrington. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 3, 2012 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Gene Black officiating. Burial will follow at the Sinnett Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
