Bobby Sumrall passed from this life peacefully in his home surrounded by family on March 20, 2025, at the age of 87. Bobby was born on July 14, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, and was the son of Charles Sumrall and Nina Mizell. Bobby was opinionated, and had the ability to have a witty comeback for almost any conversation. Above all else, he was a family man. He loved his family and friends and was the type to do anything for anyone. He had a rough start to life, as he was raised in foster care until the age of 16. Despite all the hardships he faced in his early years, he went on to earn his GED. Shortly after, Bobby joined the military to serve his country and travel the world. Bobby served in the Army National Guard initially as an airplane inspector, then as an aircraft mechanic and repairman. Bobby then served four years as a Marine and served over 19 years in the U.S. Army, retiring after 23 years in the military. He also spent time working as a carpenter and contractor. Bobby Sumrall lived a life of purpose, and he will be deeply missed by all who know him.
Survivors are his son, Terry Sumrall, his daughter, Rebecca Sumrall, his grandchildren, Brandi Maloney, Alana Bradshaw, and Joshua Ryan Jacobs, his great-grandchildren, Dazi Maraham-Harris, Robert Alan Jacobs, and Madeline Bradshaw, his niece, Valerie Lee, and a host of nephews and nieces. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sumrall and Nina Mizell, and his 15 siblings.
Chapman-Black Funeral Home will handle the arrangements. Friends and family may visit Bobby's online guest book and memorial page at www.chapman-black.com.
