Birdie Ethel Capps, was born June 20, 1909 near Lawton, Oklahoma the daughter of Edward and Tennie (Pilgrim) Langford. Her family later moved to Medford, Oklahoma where she was raised. She was united in marriage to Reverend Arlie Capps and they spent their life ministering to churched in Oklahoma, Kansas and California. In 1975, the couple retired and moved to Osage, Oklahoma. Birdie enjoyed tending to her flower beds, gardening, playing bingo, dominoes and reading her Bible daily. Mrs. Capps loved her Lord with her whole heart. Her optimistic spirit, caring nature and life long habits made her a joy to know. Birdie Capps went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the age of 99 years old. Survivors include her son Gene Clark and his wife Winnie Jo of Casper, Wyoming, two granddaughters Debbie Highsmith and her husband Charles of Vancover, Washington, Jan Clark of Casper, Wyoming one great grandson Max Highsmith of Vancover, Washington, two nephews Doyle and Gary Hatfield of Fort Collins, Colorado as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Birdie was preceded in death by her husband Arlie Lavodia Capps and two sisters Nettie McKay and Alma Hatfield. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2009 in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Joe Anglin officiating. Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery at Arkansas City, Kansas under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
