Betty Lou Rigsby, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma at the Baptist Village at the age of 86 years.

Betty was born May 24, 1929, in Clevleand, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Fred and Viva (Johnson) Minix. Betty grew up and began school in Cleveland. She later graduated from Cleveland High School with the Class of 1947. Following high school Betty was united in marriage to Lester Vern Rigsby on June 17, 1950, in Cleveland. Following their marriage Betty and Lester made their home in Sand Springs. Several years later the couple purchased a home in Tulsa. In 1963, Betty began working at Humpty Dumpty’s as a cashier. In 1976, Betty and Lester built and purchased a home in the Westport area where they lived for many years. Betty continued working at Humpty Dumpty until 1991.

Betty was a long time Eastern Star and member of the Friendship Club in Westport. Betty enjoyed growing flowers, reading as well as visiting with family and friend. Feeding Hummingbirds was also a hobby that Betty loved to do. She had countless feeders all around her home. Betty and Lester also took many trips with the senior citizens. Taking those trips fit into Betty’s personality, by getting to visit with people and always enjoying the opportunity to go somewhere.

Survivors are her three children David V. Rigsby and his wife Laurie of Highland Village, Texas, Rhonda K. Sheldon of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Timothy J. Rigsby of Bismark, North Dakota, daughter in law Shannon Rigsby of Cleveland, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren Jason, Alissa, Lucas, Sean, Megan, Joseph, Ashley, Audrey; nine great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Viva, father Fred and her husband Lester Rigsby.

Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Westport Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Earley officiating. Burial will follow in the Sinnett Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
