Betty Jeane Dickey

Betty was born June 30, 1935, in Boston Pool, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Sam and Opal (Chanley) Almy. As a young girl Betty moved with her parents to the Keystone Area. She began her schooling in Cleveland, where she completed her education. On November 28, 1952, Betty was united in marriage to William Ruben Baker in VanBuren, Arkansas. After their marriage the two resided in many places throughout country, but always maintained a residence in Cleveland, Oklahoma. In the mid 1970’s Betty and Bill returned to Cleveland permanently.
Betty worked as a seamstress for many years. She worked for Munsingwear in Hominy for a couple of years. She later began doing alterations and making clothes for people including many locals as well as many senators and representatives in Oklahoma. After the death of Bill in 1998, Betty was united in marriage to David Haskell Dickey on November 12, 1998. The two made their home in Cleveland where she continued to reside. Following the death of Hack, Betty moved to Ardmore to be closer to her son. In 2013, Betty returned to reside at the Baptist Village.
Betty enjoyed talking on the phone. She also loved to visit, do crossword puzzles and sew for her family and friends. Betty enjoyed traveling or just getting in the car and taking a drive. She also enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens, watching Hack sing and play in the band.
Betty Jeane Dickey, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at her home at the age of 81 years.
Survivors are her two children Darlene McDowell and her husband Rob of Nashville, Tennessee, Stanley Baker of Cleveland, Oklahoma, three step children Bryan Dickey and his wife Jackie of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Bruce Dickey of Mannford, Oklahoma; Brenda Dickey of Mannford, Oklahoma; two sisters June Stafford and her husband Nelson of Edmond, Oklahoma, Judy Bock and her husband Eddie of Glenpool, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, numerous step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by father Sam Almy, mother Opal Almy (Chanley), two husband Bill Baker and Haskell Dickey infant daughter Jana, two brothers Leon Almy, Amiel Almy.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. David Head and Rev. Bruce Almy officiating. Burial will follow in the Sinnett Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com
