Betty Jane Bay peacefully passed from this life on August 5, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age 96. She was born on February 11, 1925, in Tulsa. Her parents were Delbert Ethmer Berry and Jesse Lucille Mize. Betty had one brother, Delbert (Sonny) Berry.
Betty was married at the early age of fifteen to Llyod George Atkins. By the age of Twenty she was the mother of four little girls.
In 1959 she was married a second time to Meyrl Fred Bay, and they made their home in Cleveland until his death in 1992. Meyrl was a building contractor and Betty soon started keeping books for his business. This led to her opening Cleveland, Oklahoma’s first H & R Block office in 1976, eventually opening five offices in other small towns in the area. She owned or worked with Block for many years.
Betty’s family grew, from her four daughters she had fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and forty-one great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother; two of her daughters Linda Sue Johnson; and Patricia Lucille Massey; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She survived by her two daughters Judith (Judy) Ellen Wade; and son in law Jimmy (JD) Wade: daughter Betty (Janie) Jane Fiarris; one niece: and numerous extended family and friends.
Betty Bay will be missed and remembered.
