Betty Bloomfield

Betty Lou Bloomfield was born to Kenneth Robert and Edrie Edith Wentworth in Kansas City, MO on August 10, 1930. As she grew up in the countryside of Arkansas City KS, Betty's resilience and determination were shaped by her family's rural lifestyle. Living on a farm with no electricity until her father laid gas pipe to the house for lights and cooking. Betty learned the value of hard work. In 1948, the family moved to town, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Betty's life.

Betty graduated High School and soon after married Kenneth Bloomfield on November 6, 1953. Soon after their marriage, Kenneth returned to his Air Force unit stationed in Japan. Upon his return, the couple's journey led them to Turner Air Force Base, Leavenworth, Kansas, and eventually to Tulsa and Cleveland, Oklahoma. Along the way, they welcomed two daughters, Deborah and Karie. Their union in marriage lasted 68 years until Kenneth's death in 2022.

Betty's talent as a seamstress earned her a blue ribbon in high school, and she continued to create clothing for her family and community. Alongside the ladies' group at the Church of Christ, Betty loved to crochet items for various people in need. Her passion for sewing, crocheting, and reading inspired those around her. Betty's love for her family was evident in the countless hours she spent researching their genealogy and creating cherished family heirlooms. Her determination to learn new skills, including developing savvy computer skills, was a testament to her lifelong love for learning.

Betty and Kenneth's love for adventure took them on many journeys, including annual trips to Colorado and Branson. Accompanied by their loyal schnauzer and dear friends, they created unforgettable memories. As a devoted mother, Betty cherished every moment spent with her daughters, watching Elvis's movies and soap operas, and sharing her love for music and laughter. Her green thumb and love for gardening brought joy to her and her family as did her volunteer work with the band boosters at football games.

Though Kenneth preceded her in death, Betty's legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Duke and husband Ron Duke (deceased) and Karie Kellert and husband Paul Kellert. Grandchildren Chelsea Duke, Rachel Williams and husband Tyler Williams, Keylee Tesar and husband Sean Tesar, Murphy Braden II and wife Alaina Braden. Great-grandchildren, Antwan Colbert and wife Melissa, Roman Williams, Waylan and Fynlie Tesar, Lilliana Braden, and James and Gigi Colbert.

Kenneth welcomed Betty home to begin a new journey together on Monday, February 24, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to J.C. Buyers Cleveland Public Library.
