At the age of 86, Betty Bernita (Crider) Crosson, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Betty was born on January 17, 1928, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of William Christopher and Eva Mae (Hopkins) Crider. Betty grew up in the Cleveland area and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1946. On May 23, 1952, while living in California, Betty was united in marriage to Don Crosson. The couple returned to Oklahoma and established their home in Yale. They lived in several small towns around the Cleveland area while Don worked in the oil field. In the mid 1970Ãs the couple resided in Prague were Betty was employed at the Prague Hospital as a nurseÃs aide for several years. They later moved to Cleveland where she worked as a secretary at the Spess auto dealership. Don and Betty made their final move to Okemah, Oklahoma where in 1996 Don passed away. Shortly after his death, Betty moved back to Cleveland for a short time before moving to Tuttle, Oklahoma to live with her oldest daughter, Sue. Betty enjoyed gardening and being with her family. She dedicated her time to taking good care of them. She especially loved cooking for them, and anyone else who dropped by her home for a visit. Betty is survived by her two daughters: Barbara Sue Blunk of Tuttle, Oklahoma and Brenda Joyce Walkup and husband David of Okemah, Oklahoma; three brothers: James Crider of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Robert Crider of Farmersville, Texas, and Donald Crider of Prague, Oklahoma; four sisters: Ortha Taylor of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Lucille Henson of Tillamoak, Oregon, Christine Giles of Woodward, Oklahoma, and Donna McAlister of Pawnee, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Kim Johnson, Kristi North, Melissa Kennison, Andrea McKellar, Davy Walkup, Christopher Crosson; three step-grandchildren: Jason Pillars, Anthony Thomas and Ricky Crosson; seven great grandchildren: Jonathan Lambeth, Skylar Johnson, Ally North, Maddy North, Paisley Crosson, Hannah Howeth, and Christian Howeth as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents William and Eva Crider, husband Don Crosson, son Lee Andrew Crosson, stepson Richard Don Crosson, brothers David and Lloyd Crider, sisters Dorothy Gilley and Irma Harvey, and step-granddaughter Tina Crosson. Chapel services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor David Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
