Services for Bertha Marie Hanlon will be held 10:00 am Monday, January 14, 2013, at Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor Harvey Myers officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Bertha was born October 26, 1933, in Yale Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Bill and Mary Ellen (Preston) Isbell. As a young girl Bertha grew up in the rural area of Yale and began her education at the Marcum School. She later transferred to Yale School where she graduated with the Class of 1951. Following high school Bertha worked at the local bakery until she was united in marriage to the love of her life Albert Lawson Hanlon on April 1, 1956. The couple established their initial home on Parker Ranch in Chelsea, Oklahoma. Bertha and Albert later moved to Hallett, Oklahoma on the Lazy T Ranch prior to purchasing their current home just East of Jennings where they currently reside. Bertha was very active in the Pawnee County Live Stock Committee as well as treasure for many years. She was also secretary and treasurer for the Jennings Senior Citizens. Bertha has also helped prepare numerous funeral dinners and special requests for people in the community. Bertha is described as a very humble woman with a great sense of humor and always aware of those around her. She and Albert have taken many vacations during their time together mostly to the Western parts of the United States and even into Canada several times. Her favorite places to visit were in Montana. Bertha was an avid collector of dishes and footwear. Bertha and Albert enjoyed the times going to eat at the Hickory House in Cleveland. They always felt at home during those visits because they knew everyone that was there. Most of all in life Bertha loved the times spent with her family and grandchildren. Thursdays were the time she and her granddaughter Katina would always go to the beauty shop and out to eat which always contained lessons in etiquette. Bertha and Albert also traveled to many places watching their grandson Eric play basketball. They never missed a game during his high school or college career. Bertha was a devote Christian and prayer warrior. She has been a member of the First Christian Church in Hallett, Oklahoma as well as treasure for the past 18 years. Bertha went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, January 11, 2013, at her home in Jennings at the age of 79 years, two months and sixteen days. Survivors are her loving husband of over 56 years Albert of the home, one son Nile Hanlon and his wife Susan of Jennings, Oklahoma; two brothers Roy Isbell and his wife Hazel of Yale, Oklahoma, Lawrence Isbell of Portland, Oregon; sister Nelda Chandler of Yale, Oklahoma; one grandson Eric Hanlon and wife Angela; four great grandchildren Abigail, Bella, Thaddeus and Declan as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. Bertha was preceded in death by father Bill and Mary Ellen Isbell; sister Grace Martin; brothers Fred Isbell, Myron Isbell, Charles Isbell, Carl Isbell, infant sister Josephine; one granddaughter Katina Hanlon, one great granddaughter Kaylee Hamner.
