Basil Duane Gilley, known fondly as Lil Red and Duane, was born on May 1, 1949, in Hominy, Oklahoma. He peacefully passed away at his home in Osage, Oklahoma, on July 3, 2023. Duane's life was filled with love, work, and cherished relationships.

Duane grew up in Cleveland, Oklahoma, and attended school there. He graduated with the Class of 1967, where he made lasting friendships and shared many joyful memories. After completing high school, Duane embarked on a career as a machinist. His dedication and hard work were evident in every endeavor he pursued.

In the 1970s, Duane moved his family to Osage, Oklahoma. It was here that he found a welcoming community and set down roots. For many years, Duane worked as a skilled machinist at Tulsa Machine. His craftsmanship and attention to detail made him an invaluable asset to the company. Duane dedicated himself to his profession until his retirement in 2009.

In 2007, fate brought Duane together with Kathy Lou Horn. Their connection was undeniable from the moment they met, and they quickly became inseparable. Their love created a strong foundation of support and companionship that lasted until Duane's final moments.

Survivors who will forever cherish the beautiful memories shared with Duane include his beloved wife, Kathy, of the home; two sons Brian D. Gilley and his wife Diana of Winter Haven, Florida; Jeff D. Gilley of Jennings, Oklahoma; two stepchildren, Jeremy Horn and his wife Nikki of Osage, Oklahoma; Dustin Horn and his wife Tammy of Osage, Oklahoma; siblings Loretta Patak of Perry, Oklahoma; Juanita Short of Coweta, Oklahoma; Patricia Marcum and her husband Jack of Harrah, Oklahoma; Teresa Lemon of Cleveland, Oklahoma. Additionally, he leaves behind six cherished grandchildren; Cassie, Brandon (Megan), Trevor (Evangelina), and Brianna Gilley; two step-grandchildren named Eden and Lexi Horn, as well as two great-grandchildren; Carson, and Zoey Brummett, Duane also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss his vibrant presence.

Duane will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his work, his kind-hearted nature, and the love he shared with Kathy and their blended family. He leaves a legacy of perseverance and warmth that will continue to inspire generations to come.
