Barbara Ann Stokes was born September 23, 1960, in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Delbert and Margie Hughes. She grew up in the Cleveland, Oklahoma area along with her brother, Bobby and sister, Mary. Barbara attended Cleveland Schools where she graduated in 1979.
Barbara was married to Ronald Blankenship until he passed and then she united in marriage with Robert Stokes, recently celebrating their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Barbara loved spending time with her family and reading romance novels. She enjoyed hanging out with her cousins and playing board games. She was always taking care of other people. Holidays were a special time for Barbara, she was an excellent cook and loved being able to cook for everyone.
Barbara will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family and friends will forever remain in their hearts. Barbara graced this earth with her warmth, kindness and unwavering love for 63 years and passed away from this life on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Porta Caeli Hospice House.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Stokes; daughter, Vanessa Stokes; granddaughter, Amber Collins; grandson, Isaiah Stokes; two great-grandchildren, Cassie and Timothy; sister, Mary Hughes; uncles, Elwood (Mae) Norris and Steve Hughes; aunts, Rhonda (Tom) Simmons, Tella Norris, Linda McFadden, Janice Dunn, and Joyce (Jim) Darst; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Blankenship; her parents, Delbert and Margie Hughes; brother, Bobby Hughes; uncle, Gene Norris, and nephew, Cody Hughes.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma.Arrangements have been made by Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Cleveland, Oklahoma.
