Barbara Juanita Wilson passed from this life and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of eighty-eight. Barbara Juanita Fisher was born on February 21, 1923 in Cullman, Alabama; the daughter of Charles Woody and Lou Etta (Brock) Fisher. Barbara was raised and attended school in Cullman, graduating from Gold Ridge High School with the Class of 1941. Upon completion of her high school education, Barbara attended dental assistant training and accepted employment as a dental assistant at Fort McClellan, Alabama. While working there, Barbara met and was later married to 2nd Lieutenant Tillman Wallace Wilson on January 22, 1944 in Heflin, Alabama. Shortly after their marriage, Lieutenant Wilson received orders for Europe and was wounded in France in September 1944 residing as a hospital patient until April of 1945 and later released from active duty in November of 1945. Tillman and Barbara and their oldest son, Charles Owen moved to Arkadelphia, Arkansas in January of 1946 and resided in the VeteranÃs Village while Tillman attended Henderson State University. The Wilson family then moved to Nashville, Tennessee for a short time in 1949. They later moved to Addison, Alabama and son, Donald Watson Wilson was born in April of 1950 in Cullman, Alabama. When Tillman was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict the family moved to Prescott, Arkansas where their daughter, Barbara Anita was born in November of 1951. After TillmanÃs return from Korea, Barbara and Tillman moved to Carthage, Arkansas and then returned to Addison, Alabama where the coupleÃs twin sons, Barry Wayne and Larry Wallace where born in 1956 in Cullman. Shortly after the birth of the twins, the Wilson family returned to Arkansas for a short time before moving to Lawton, Oklahoma in 1959. Tillman preceded Barbara in death on January 1, 1993 in Lawton. Barbara continued to reside in Lawton until 1995 when she moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma to be near her son, Larry and his family. Juanita continued to reside in Cleveland until December 2008 when she relocated to the Mimosa Assisted Living Center at the Baptist Village in Owasso. Barbara Juanita was a lifelong and faithful member of the Baptist Church; currently a member of the Garnett Road Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She loved to read, especially history and mystery novels. She also enjoyed hand stitching and was an avid Atlanta Brave fan. Barbara Juanita was a college football fan, having been converted to a University of Oklahoma Sooner by her family. She loved her family and cherished the time she could spend with them. In addition to her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Woody and Lou Etta Fisher and two sisters, Lois and Dora. She is survived by her four sons, Charles O. and wife, Celene Wilson of Burkburnett, Texas, Donald W. Wilson of Lawton, Oklahoma. Dr. Larry W. and wife, Debbie Wilson of Collinsville, Oklaoma and Barry W. and wife, Jo Wilson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter, Barbara A. Zook of Bethany, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; Kelly Wilson, Bree Wilson, Rob Zook, Jonathan Zook, Kristin Wilson, Brian Wilson and Joseph Wilson; great-grandson, Atticus Zook; sister, Era Burbank of Cullman, Alabama; and a brother, Charles Fisher of Cullman, Alabama. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, Oklahoma with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mimosa Assisted Living Center Library at 7310 North 127th East Avenue, Owasso, Oklahoma 74055.
