Barbara Margaret Helm passed from this life on Thursday, December 25, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the St. JohnÃs Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years, three months and fourteen days. ' Barbara was born September 11, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York.' She was the daughter of Thomas William and Margaret Ann (Jahn) Steinjann.' As a young girl Barbara grew up in the Brooklyn area.' She attended and later graduated from St. Agnes Catholic School in Rockville Centre, New York with the Class of 1956.' After graduation Barbara began working at a local company Universal Credit.' She worked CIT for several years before Barbara met the love of her life William Douglas Helm while he was stationed in New York.' The couple was later united in marriage on October 13, 1962, in New York.' Soon after their marriage the couple established their home in Alaska.' In 1971, Barbara and Doug moved to Oklahoma City.' Due to the fact Doug worked for the Federal Aviation Administration the family moved to many different locations.' They have included St. Thomas, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and in 1990, established their permanent home in Cleveland, Oklahoma where they have continued to reside.' Barbara loved her family very dearly.' She especially enjoyed the time with her grandkids and spoiling them.' Barbara enjoyed fishing, painting and knitting.' Barbara and Doug enjoyed going to Las Vegas and Tunica.' She was introduced to Blackjack several years back and took great pride in learning the game and playing for hours.' Barbara and Doug had recently began attending St. BedeÃs Episcopal Church in Westport. Survivors include her loving husband Doug of the home; two sons Doug Helm, Jr. and his wife Heather of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tom Helm and his wife Lou of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers Tom Steinjann of Ormond Beach, Florida, Robert Steinjann of San Carlos, California, six grandchildren David Helm, Matthew Helm, Kaitlyn Helm, Mary Helm, Ryan Helm, Joshua Helm; one great granddaughter Kiera Helm and numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing.' She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Thomas William Steinjann and a sister Joan Meyers. Services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, January 2, 2015, at the St. BedeÃs Episcopal Church with Rev. Jack Powers officiating.'
