B.H. Kelley longtime resident of Jennings, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at the age of 81 years, two months and four days. B.H. was born June 5, 1933, in Childress, Texas. He was the son of Albert and Veda (Bailey) Kelley. As a young child B.H. was raised and received his education in the Childress, Texas area. Following the completion of his education B.H. worked for several places in the farming and ranching business. The job that give B.H. his love for nature was during his time working at Shasta Mountain as a line camp hand. B.H. would spend week after week by him-self tending to the cattle only to be visited once a week by others to replenish his food. Following that job he resided in the Lovington, New Mexico area. On May 18, 1952 in Hollis, Oklahoma, B.H. was united in marriage to the love of his life Carolyn Taylor. In 1962, the couple moved to Oklahoma and purchased the property next to CarolynÃs parents which they homesteaded. On April 1, 1969, B.H. and Carolyn purchased LongÃs Dairy which they operated for many years. During his time operating the business, B.H. received numerous awards for his successful breeding program. After many years of a successful operation, B.H. sold the operation that served many local customers on Good Friday in 1986. In August of 1986, ìSheepy Valley Ranchî was born and is still in operation today. During B.H.Ãs younger days he participated in numerous rodeos. He still followed closely the PBR and new the names of each and every bull in the circuit. B.H. loved to tell stories. He always loved and enjoyed people to come visit. Always having a pot of coffee ready for those who came by. Sunday was a special day around the Kelley home. B.H. would prepare lunch for everyone which was handed down by his grandfather. B.H. enjoyed woodworking, reading and leather working and you never caught him without his leather suspenders which he crafted. B.H. had many memories and his fondest memory was being married for over 52 years to Carolyn. The two would spend every evening watching television and hold hands. B.H. was very proud of his successful dairy business, sheep business and farming capabilities, but he was especially proud of his loving and wonderful family that he loved dearly. Survivors are his three children Douglas Kelley of the home, Randy Kelley of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Kathy Kelley of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; adopted daughter Teri Owens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother R.B. Kelley of Brownwood, Texas, Doris Nowell of Lubbock, Texas; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. In addition to his parents B.H. was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn; two sisterÃs Dorothy Jonas and Christine Avery. Services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Terlton Baptist Church. The body was cremated under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
