Anna Marie Friend

Anna Marie Friend was born on Tuesday, December 13, 1921 to Annabelle Hudson Wise and Edwin Bert Wise in Jennings, Oklahoma. She died on July 4, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law, Benjamin and Descygne Wise and Edwin and Martha Wise.
She married Marion Lester Friend on September 1, 1941. During his service in the United States Army Air Force, they had three children, Sheila, Sharon, and Marion Lester, Jr. (Bub). After his military service, they moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma and opened a Caf and built a home there. Later, Les became an insurance agent and the family moved to Tulsa. Marie remained a housewife, but supplemented the family income by caring for children and taking in ironing.
Marie was a lifelong member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, known today as the Broken Arrow Community of Christ. She attended the Oilton, Oklahoma congregation for most of her years, singing and playing the piano.
Marie is survived by daughter Sheila Marie Hall of Tulsa, daughter and son-in-law Sharon Ann and Bill Talbot of Broken Arrow, son and daughter-in-law Marion Lester and Naty Friend of St. Petersburg, Florida, sister-in-law Marietta Davis of Sand Springs, grandchildren Dale Hall, Lannette Counts, Patrick and Michael Talbot, Rose Gentile, Joseph and Julius Friend and Jennifer Griffiths as well as thirteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and many friends and extended family.
