Alvin Earl Farrow, known to his friends and family as Duroc, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013, at his home in Terlton, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years, two months and thirteen days. Survivors are his loving wife of over 48 years Gerry of the home, three children Judy Toothman of Silver City, Oklahoma, Rocky Farrow of Terlton, Oklahoma, Stoney Farrow of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; siblings Bill Farrow of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Don Farrow of Locksburg, Arkansas, Twila Young of Mannford, Oklahoma, Bud Farrow of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Darrell Farrow of Terlton, Oklahoma, Shirley Zickefoose of Westport, Oklahoma, Trish Riley of Mannford, Oklahoma, Jimmy Farrow of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; three grandchildren Nathan Toothman and his wife Olivia, Randa Toothman, Colby Toothman, two great grandchildren Jacie and Jenna Jenkins and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Duroc was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ollie Farrow, two brothers Lloyd Farrow and Jesse Farrow. Duroc was born December 26, 1939, in old Mannford. He was the son of Clarence Roscoe and Ollie Edna (Sutton) Farrow. Duroc was raised and attended school in old Mannford. At the completion of his education Duroc gained employment with Mannford Ready Mix. He also helped and worked for Tuffy Weaver riding horses. Duroc later gained employment for a local metal fabricator in Sand Springs where he worked for several years. On November 26, 1964, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Duroc was united in marriage to the love of his life Gerry Kay Workman. The couple established their initial home in Mannford. In 1967, Duroc joined the local Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union in Ponca City, Oklahoma. In 1979, Duroc and Gerry moved to their current home in Terlton where they raised their three children: Judy, Rocky and Stoney. Duroc worked for many years out of the union hall in Ponca City before it later consolidated with several other small halls. Upon the consolidation they formed the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local #430 on December 1, 1997. Duroc continued working with Local 430 until he retired in 2000. Duroc enjoyed being outdoors. He worked non stop around his home, garden and shop. However his passion was roping. Duroc was a champion header on several occasions. He was the Champion Header in 1987 as well as the 1990 Central Oklahoma Team Roping Association Champion Header. His experience didnít stop there. Duroc performed numerous times at the Cavalcadeís annual event. He also performed at many other places throughout Oklahoma as well as having roping events at his home. Duroc loved the times spent at the Terlton Grocery. Always solving the worlds problems over coffee and breakfast. He had a wonderful sense of humor, great memory and numerous one liners. Most of all in life Duroc loved his family. He enjoyed the times they would come home and visit and have family gatherings. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Terlton, Oklahoma with Rev. Scott Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Terlton Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
