Funeral services for Alvera A. Davidson will be held 10:30 AM Friday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Loyd Hall officiating. Private burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Alvera was born December 6, 1931, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James Monroe and Clara Mae (Rainbolt) Wilcoxson. Alvera began and completed her education in Cleveland. Alvera was united in marriage to Ernie Davidson on January 22, 1949, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. The couple has made their home in Cleveland for the past sixty-five years raising three sons, Ernie Lee, Leonard, and Thomas. Alvera worked as a checker at Glenn’s Supermarket in Cleveland during the time her kids were in school.
Alvera enjoyed going to Ruidoso, New Mexico yearly with her sisters and brother in law. Of course, the time would also revolve around racing with Ernie. She loved to cook, read the Bible and enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together. In 1964, at the Western Heights Baptist Church, Alvera was baptized and gave her life to the Lord. Alvera was also known for her beans and cornbread as well as always concerned about making sure her grandkids had their lunch packed when they went to work.
Alvera passed from this life on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at the age of 84 years old.
Survivors are her two sons, Leonard and his wife, Linda of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Thomas “T.W.” of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two sisters Louise Mills of Cleveland, Oklahoma, June Porter of Mannford, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Clint Davidson, Jacob Davidson, Trey Davidson, Eric Davidson, Tommy Davidson, Tracy Lynn Cheek, Tiffany Cornwell, Stephanie, Lance and Chassidy; and twenty great-grandchildren. Alvera was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernie Davidson, son Ernie Lee Davidson; four brothers Marvis Dean Wilcoxson, Joseph Willard Wilcoxson, Billy Wilcoxson, James Wilcoxson; two sisters Netta Williams and Retha Wilcoxson.
