Alma was born on February 12, 1919 in Zack, Arkansas. She was the daughter of William Albert and Vanner (Hensley) Brisbin. As a young girl Alma moved with her family in a covered wagon to the Prularie area near what is now called Prue. She began her education there and later moved to Cleveland in 1927. Alma then finished her education at the Cleveland Schools. On December 23, 1944, Alma Brisbin was united in marriage to Clarence Harold Pense. After their marriage the couple established their home in Cleveland. During this time Alma has worked for several different families in the area helping them with their household chores. She also worked for Munsingwear in Hominy for a short time. Many of the things that Alma enjoyed doing was going to garage sales and helping people. Alma and Red spent many hours raising and giving love and affection to their nieces and nephews. She has prepared many meals for friends and family during their time of sickness as a token of her love. Alma and Red purchased a camper and took several trips to Branson which they enjoyed doing. They would also load the camper and take their nieces and nephews to area lakes and resorts in the area. Most of all in life Alma enjoyed helping others during their time of need. Alma Hazel Pense, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the age of 91 years 11 months and 15 days in the Cleveland Area Hospital. Survivors are her husband of over 66 years Harold "Red" Pense of the home, nephews Charlie Dell and his wife Jody of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Buster Dell and his wife Penny of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Gary Wayne Vance his wife Gail of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Don Brisbin and his wife Mary of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Leonard Leake, Jr. his wife Ramona of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Corky Leake of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Billy Edward Leake and his wife Opal of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Steve Brisbin of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Mark Brisbin and his wife Daisy of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Jackie Brisbin of Michigan, Billy Brisbin of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Paul Brisbin and his wife Mona of Cleveland, Oklahoma; nieces, Debbie Gilbert and her husband David of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Lonnie Medwid of Florida, Janie McGuire of Stroud, Oklahoma, Jackie Mitchell and her husband John of Maramec, Oklahoma, two sisters in law Eva Lois Brisbin-Weldon of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Helen Brisbin of Cleveland, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her four brothers Alvin Brisbin, Jack Brisbin, Willard Brisbin, Bill Brisbin; two sisters Vada Leake and Ada Dell. Chapel Services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, January 31, 2011 in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leonard Leake officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home
