Allie Mae Wiles went home to Jesus on December 23, 2018, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years.
Allie was born on October 27, 1925, in Osage County. She grew up on the family farm north of Cleveland, Oklahoma. Following the completion of her education, Allie helped her family on the farm as well as helping raise her younger siblings after her father passed away. Allie soon began working in Tulsa at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, helping with the war effort as a “Rosie the Riveter.” Later, Allie met a young man, Jack Leon Wiles. The couple was united in marriage on March 19, 1949, in Sedan, Kansas. Together they raised five children: Jack, Jeanie, Sharon, Edward, and Deborah. The couple resided in several places due to Jack’s job in the oil industry. The family lived in Cleveland, Stroud, and Perry, Oklahoma; McCook, Nebraska; and Weatherford and Springtown, Texas. In 1992, Allie and Jack returned to Cleveland where she continued to reside until 2010. At that time, Allie moved in with her daughter Debbie and son-in-law Roger in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Allie loved doing crafts, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and scrapbooking. Allie was known as a fixer; she could repair just about anything that was broken. She was a quick learner and perfectionist, staying up to date with the latest technologies. Allie loved to read; volunteering many hours at the local library. She also had a special place in her heart for animals; many described her as a dog whisperer. Cooking, playing games, and enjoying the company of family and friends, gave Allie great enjoyment in life. A couple of memorable family trips were to Carlsbad, New Mexico, as well as a family trip with her children and grandchildren to Disney World in Florida. Family gatherings during the holidays were very special times. Allie was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Cleveland. She and Jack were also instrumental in expanding the McCook Christian Church while living in Nebraska. Allie was a wonderful, sweet woman who will be missed by a multitude of people.
Allie is survived by her children: Sharon Mulqueen of Topeka, Kansas, Ed Wiles and wife Janice of Naperville, Illinois, Deb Koehler and husband Roger of Claremore, Oklahoma, Jack Wiles and wife Pat of Amarillo, Texas, Jeanie Rochelle and husband Robert of Texas; one brother Gene Young and wife Emma of Wewahitchka, Florida; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Allie was preceded in death by her husband Jack Wiles and six siblings: Ed Young, Jim Young, Kenneth Young, Kathryn Anglin, Mary Alderson, and Charles Young.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 28, 2018, at the First Christian Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma, with David Logsdon officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Immediately following services, burial will proceed at the Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in honor of Allie, to the Jay Byers Memorial Library or charity of your choice.
