Ada Mae Davidson, lifelong Hominy resident, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of seventy-nine. Ada Mae was born on August 4, 1929 in Mount Vernon, Missouri; the daughter of James Robert and Myrtle (Garringer) Faucett. Shortly after her birth, Adaís father passed away and at the age of two, she moved to Hominy, Oklahoma where she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Harry and Bessie Letzkus. Ada attended school in Hominy, graduating from Hominy High School in 1947. Ada Mae was married to Clifford Davidson on May 9, 1948 at the Hominy Christian Church. The couple made their initial home in Hominy, raising two children, Shirley and Miachel. Ada dedicated her early life to raising her children and providing them with a loving and caring home as they attended school in Hominy. Ada began a career as a waitress at the Clover Leaf CafÈ in Hominy when she accepted employment for a short time before beginning her daily drive to Cleveland to work at Wardís Restaurant. She was a familiar face at Wardís for nearly twenty years, retiring in 1993. She worked for a short time as a nurseís aide at the Cleveland area hospital in the early 1970ís. Ada was described by her family as a loving, Christian woman who enjoyed helping others. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Hominy where she assisted with both Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She also volunteered to help wherever she was needed in the church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved preparing a large family dinner at Thanksgiving. She was known by her grandchildren as Nana Ada. Additionally, Ada Mae was a member of the Hominy Parent Teachers Association for many years while her children were in school; serving as President on two occasions. She was also active in the Christian Womenís Fellowship and the Hominy Jaycee Jaynes in the 1960ís. Ada Mae is survived by a daughter and her husband, Shirley and Ken Crouch of Catossa, Oklahoma; son, Miachel Davidson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Samatha Houston of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Justin Davidson of Seattle, Washington; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Walden of Shelbyville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt and uncle, Harry and Bessie Letzkus and a sister, Lucy Moore. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with David Logsdon officiating. Burial will be at the A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
