Funeral services for Lucille Adams will be held 10:00 am Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Velma Lucille Adams was born on September 14, 1929 in Osage, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Patrick and Edith Inez (Cochran) Mahoney. As a young child Lucilleís mother passed away and was raised by her grandparents Seth and Jesse Belle Cochran. She continued to reside in Osage where she completed her education. On April 9, 1946, Lucille was united in marriage to Ernest Melton Adams. The couple established their initial home in Osage and in 1967 moved to Hominy. Lucille accepted employment with Munsingwear as a seamstress where she worked for over 30 years before she retired. Lucille and Ernest moved to Cleveland in 1972 where she has continued to reside until her death. Lucille loved to read romance novels and watch soap operas. She also bowled for Munsingwear for many years at Hominy. Lucille always looked forward to Christmas time and family reunions. She especially loved the times when all of her family, children and grandchildren would come to visit. Lucille passed from this life on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at her home in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years ten months and nineteen days. Survivors include her two sons Robert Adams and wife Rhonda of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Darrell Adams and his wife Brenda of Cleveland, Oklahoma, three daughters, Edith Wills of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Kathy Bluejacket and husband Gary of Searcy, Arkansas, Sheryl Adams of Cleveland, Oklahoma; twenty two grandchildren, fifty one great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents Patrick and Edith Inez Mahoney, husband Ernest Melton Adams, grandparents Seth and Jesse Belle Cochran, two grandsons Troy Adams, Johnny Jones and a great grandson Randy Swisher.
